A record of wines I have liked. Do not expect any particularly sophisticated opinions here! My wine purchasing habits are spontaneous, my attention to pairings is haphazard at best, and I generally aim for bottles under $20 (USD). What follows are just some general impressions of things I broadly enjoyed, to aid in future purchasing.

  • Samuel Robert Winery Pinot Noir Vintner's Reserve 2021 - Total Wine
    • Store description: "Aromas of dark cherry and cinnamon will draw you into this beautifully handcrafted Pinot Noir. On the palate refreshing red fruits and light tannins round out the wine nicely."
    • Bottle description
      • Smell & taste: "Violets, raspberry, and dark spice. Elegant, full bodied, and complex. Richly structured."
      • Pairing: "Conversation. Quiet Time. Wild salmon or filet mignon."
    • The "cinnamon and nutmeg" description of the taste caught my attention, and I wasn't disappointed. Very gentle, appropriate for a low-intensity evening.
    • One of the staff at Total Wine, when I asked about Oregon wine, said he didn't think most of it was that remarkable, but recommended Samuel Robert.
